AT A GLANCE

Through Hostile Depths is an automatic board battle: place Offense and Assist pieces, then defeat the enemy lineup. The released beta required Authorization Level 10. Version 2.0 announces the permanent Resonance of Wholeness edition after October 19 maintenance; its full live rules have not been verified here.

Board rules below describe the released beta and the October 14 Global client-text reference. The confirmed permanent-edition changes are availability and the announced mission rewards. They are not a claim that every beta setting remains unchanged in Version 2.0. Client-text mirrors are unofficial archives; they do not verify a live server action.

Global reference rules

Global reference rules
PartRule
BoardUp to three Offense slots and six Assist slots. Front slots have position bonuses.
CombatAutomatic. Offense pieces fight; Assist pieces contribute skills. Defeat every enemy to win; losing all Offense pieces loses the battle.
SANLosses reduce SAN. Zero ends the run; wins restore some SAN.
LineupUse compatible piece roles and Traits. Three identical pieces combine into a higher-star piece.

Read the individual piece’s skills and role before deploying it. The beta’s official illustrated rules describe a sequence of nodes, including Opportunities and combat, leading to the final showdown. A single lost node and the end of an entire run are different outcomes.

At preparation, avoid an empty front line. The game text requires at least one Offense piece and disallows deploying duplicate pieces. Its built-in lineup references can help identify a coherent starting plan; do not substitute an ordinary Ascension team for this mode’s separate piece rules.

Finish, leave or claim deliberately

The preserved menu distinguishes Leave for Now, which saves the current run until a displayed time, from Quit & Claim, which settles it. Read that displayed save deadline before leaving. Ending the run is not the same action as pausing a battle.

Complete the mode’s current missions and inspect their reward panel. The July beta paid points toward missions; the permanent preview announces a new reward list. Neither source verifies a repeatable reward for every identical clear or proves the permanent edition retains all beta scoring settings. See the anniversary schedule for the announced transition.
