Trekker progression in Stella Sora has several separate layers: levels and tier-ups, skill upgrades, Talents, Emblems, affinity and the build saved in an Ascension Record. Start with the team you use, identify which requirement blocks its next upgrade, and obtain that material or account-level requirement before spreading resources across a new roster.
Global progression structure from supplied written sources and the July 2026 official Toolbox announcement. No current total-material calculator or anniversary-specific upgrade-cost claim is made here.

Identify the layer that needs an upgrade
Different progression systems answer different problems
Scroll the table sideways on a narrow screen.
| System | What to check | Do not confuse it with |
|---|---|---|
| Level and tier-up | Current level cap, required tier-up materials and Authorization requirement. | A Potential level gained inside one Ascension run. |
| Skills | The skill used by the build and its displayed upgrade materials. | A rare Potential that changes how that skill behaves. |
| Talents | The specific Talent unlocked by Soul Keys and what its wording changes. | A reason to buy every duplicate without reading the effect. |
| Emblems | The available affixes and whether they affect the chosen damage type or Potential. | A universal roll that is optimal for every build. |
| Ascension Record | The saved Potentials, Disc setup and note/Harmony result. | A permanent Trekker level or a guarantee of encounter damage. |

Resolve a cap before buying more experience
The supplied launch-era progression guide describes tier-up materials as the requirement for moving beyond a reached level cap, with Authorization Level opening higher progression options. If the next level is locked, inspect that tier-up screen first; extra experience items do not remove a separate requirement.
For a planned upgrade, the official Toolbox provides a Progression Planner for Trekkers and Runic Discs. Open Menu → Toolbox and use the planner to calculate the relevant materials. The July 2026 announcement confirms its purpose; it does not establish that the planner reads your inventory automatically or spends the materials for you.
Invest for a working team before a collection of half-built units
The April new-player discussion recommends developing one team first, then using it to earn resources and improve Records. That is the basis for a focused early plan. It is not a promise that one lineup clears every element or every endgame mode.
- Prioritize the actions the build actually uses. A Support Skill contributor can need a different skill upgrade from an on-field normal-attack carry.
- Check the next Talent’s effect before treating another duplicate as the best investment. The original Chitose calculation shows that different Talents can have very different value inside one build.
- Keep Emblem spending proportional to the problem. The original Record post reports a useful Potential affix from a lucky roll, but explicitly does not recommend assuming the same result or a cheap universal route.
- Expand the roster when another activity, commission or team gives that upgrade a specific purpose.
Check the upgrade against the original problem
After upgrading, return to the requirement that blocked you. A level cap should change on the progression screen; a material total should match the planned upgrade; a combat problem needs another look at the encounter. Higher investment cannot compensate for a missing build interaction or a support area that fails to reach the target.
